Privacy Policy Statement
Last updated 29 October 2026
This statement explains, in plain terms, what personal information Bekebi Resources Limited collects when you use our website or deal with us, why we hold it, who we share it with, and the control you have over it.
We know that handing over your details, whether you are making an enquiry, applying for a role, or simply browsing, involves a measure of trust. We take that seriously. We collect only what we need, we use it only for the reasons set out below, and we do not sell it to anyone.
We handle personal data in line with the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 and any other law that applies to us. Bekebi Resources Limited is the data controller for the information described here, which means we decide why it is held and how it is used, and we are accountable for it.
Your use of this website is also governed by our Terms of Service.
The information we hold
Most of what we hold, you give us yourself. When you contact us, request information, respond to a tender, or apply for a job, we receive your name, your job title and the organisation you represent, your email address and telephone number, and whatever you choose to write to us. If you apply for a role, we also receive your CV and everything in it: your employment history, qualifications, and referees.
A smaller amount is gathered automatically as you browse. Our website and its analytics tools record your IP address and rough location, the type of device and browser you are using, which pages you visited and for how long, how you arrived at our site, and the date and time. This is standard for any website and is largely how we understand whether our pages are useful. Some of it comes from cookies, which we explain further down.
Occasionally we receive information about you from elsewhere (a business partner, a professional network, or a public register) where it is relevant to a working relationship between us.
Why we hold it, and what entitles us to
Every use we make of your data has to rest on a lawful basis under the Act. Ours are as follows.
When we reply to your enquiry or correspond with you about a possible engagement, we are taking steps at your request ahead of a contract, and we also have a legitimate interest in responding to people who approach us. When we deliver a service or manage a live relationship with a client, supplier, or partner, we are performing a contract. When we assess a job application, we are again acting at your request, and we have a legitimate interest in recruiting well.
When we look at how the site is being used so we can improve it, that is a legitimate interest, though for any cookie that is not strictly necessary, we rely on your consent instead. When we send you updates or marketing, we do so only because you have consented, and you can stop it at any time. When we protect the site against misuse or attack, that is a legitimate interest. And when we retain records for tax, audit, or regulatory reasons, we are meeting a legal obligation.
Where consent is what we rely on, you are free to withdraw it whenever you wish. Doing so does not undo anything we did lawfully beforehand, but it stops us going any further.
Who else sees it
We do not sell personal data, and we do not pass it to third parties for their own marketing. There are, however, four situations in which someone outside Bekebi may see it.
- Our service providers. The companies that host our website, run our email, support our IT, provide analytics, or advise us professionally will necessarily handle some data in the course of that work. They act on our instructions, are bound by confidentiality, and may not use your information for their own purposes.
- Group companies and joint venture partners. Where a project or a role involves them, we may share what is relevant, no more.
- Regulators, courts, and law enforcement. Where the law compels disclosure, or where we need to establish, exercise, or defend a legal claim.
- A buyer or successor. If the business is sold, merged, or restructured, personal data may transfer as part of it. The protections in this statement would continue to apply.
Information that leaves Nigeria
Some of the services we depend on (hosting, email, analytics) are operated by companies based outside Nigeria, so your data may be stored or processed abroad.
Where that happens, we take the steps the Act requires to keep it protected: transferring only to countries recognised as offering adequate protection, or putting contractual safeguards in place with the recipient, or relying on another lawful transfer condition under the Act. If you would like to know what applies to a particular transfer, ask us and we will tell you.
How long we keep it
We hold personal data for as long as we genuinely need it, and no longer unless the law requires us to keep it further. In practice:
- Website enquiries are kept for up to 24 months from your last contact with us.
- Client, supplier, and contract records are kept for the life of the relationship and for six years afterwards, or longer where tax or regulatory rules demand it.
- Unsuccessful job applications are kept for up to 12 months, unless you ask us to hold your details on file for future openings.
- Analytics data is retained in aggregated or anonymised form, at which point it is no longer personal data at all.
Once data has served its purpose, we delete it securely or strip it of anything that could identify you.
Cookies
Cookies are small files a website places on your device. We use them to keep the site working properly, to remember your preferences, and to understand how visitors move through our pages so that we can make them better.
The cookies that are strictly necessary for the site to function are set automatically; without them, parts of the site simply would not work. Everything else, including analytics, is set only if you agree. You can give or refuse that consent when you first arrive, and change your mind at any time through our cookie controls or your browser settings. Blocking cookies may affect how some features behave.
Keeping it secure
We use technical and organisational measures proportionate to the risk: encrypted connections, restricted access on a need-to-know basis, secure hosting arrangements, and confidentiality obligations on our staff.
No system connected to the internet is entirely secure, and we will not pretend otherwise. If a breach occurs that is likely to affect your rights, we will notify the Nigeria Data Protection Commission, and you directly where the Act requires it, within the timeframes it sets.
Your rights over your information
The Act gives you real control, not merely a formality. You are entitled to:
- be told how your data is being used, which is what this statement is for;
- see the personal data we hold about you;
- have anything inaccurate or incomplete corrected;
- have your data deleted, where no lawful reason remains for us to keep it;
- have our use of it restricted in certain circumstances;
- object to any use that rests on legitimate interest, and to stop direct marketing outright at any time;
- receive your data in a portable, commonly used format, or have it sent onward where that is technically feasible;
- withdraw consent wherever consent is the basis we rely on;
- and not be subject to a decision made purely by automated means that significantly affects you.
To exercise any of these, write to us at the address below. We will respond within the period the Act allows, and we may first need to satisfy ourselves that you are who you say you are.
If our answer does not satisfy you, you are entitled to take the matter to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (ndpc.gov.ng). We would rather resolve it with you directly, but the route is open to you either way.
Children
This is a business website and is not aimed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has given us their details, tell us and we will remove them.
Other websites
Where we link to a site run by someone else, that link is for convenience. We have no control over how those sites handle personal data and cannot answer for them. Please read their own privacy statements before sharing anything.
Changes to this statement
We will revise this statement as our practices or the law change. The updated version takes effect once it appears here, and the date at the top will tell you when that was. Where a change is significant, we will make a reasonable effort to bring it to your attention rather than leave you to notice it.
Talking to us
If anything here is unclear, or you want to exercise one of the rights above, we would rather hear from you than have you wonder:
